Taking back your life starts with making a few simple changes. The first change is a transitional change from bad habits to good ones. These bad habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol, prescription pain pill dependency, and other such addictive habits cause damage inside our body and create chronic health conditions. These conditions create a lifetime of health issues, requiring prescription medications, and constant poor health. When will people realize that they have choices? Life is about choices and the sacrifices we make for a healthy future will offer a lifetime of benefits. People must promise to make better choices for health.
Did you know that people who smoke cigarettes are subjecting themselves to harmful toxins such as arsenic, benzene, beryllium, 1, 3 Butadiene, cadmium, chromium, ethylene oxide, nickel, polonium 210, vinyl chloride, formaldehyde, benzoapyrene, Toluene. Cigarette smoking is the number one cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, emphysema, cataracts, pneumonia, erectile dysfunction, premature deaths, and other such diseases that cause death or prolonged conditions. Giving up smoking will benefit a person by saving them between $2000 or more dollars a year. You will save money on Doctor Visits because you will be sick less often. You will damage your lungs and endanger your future if you continue to subject yourself to this harmful addiction.
Smoking is just a bad habit that “ups your risk for heart disease by decreasing the flow of oxygen to the heart and raises your risk for atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. Lighting up also damages the cells that line the coronary arteries and increases your likelihood of blood clots” Heart Attack Calculator: Quitting Smoking Can Save Your Life. Did you know that since “1944, the American Cancer Society began to warn about possible ill effects of smoking, although it admitted that no definite evidence exists linking smoking and lung cancer” Tobacco Companies. Being above the influence is the solution to the problem. Knowing the harms of smoking will prevent people from starting this fatal bad habit. It is a fact that “quitting smoking reduces the risk of developing and dying from cancer. However, it takes a number of years after quitting for the risk of cancer to start to decline. This benefit increases the longer a person remains smoke free”Cancer.Gov. Smoking is deadly but completely legal despite the horrifying death rates and statistics.
Alcohol consumption is legal as long as you are twenty years of age, “Yes, it’s legal for people 21 and older. One reason is that alcohol can have seriously dangerous, long-term impacts on a body and brain that are still developing. Also, statistics show that more teens are killed by alcohol than by all illegal drugs combined” Above The Inflluence. The good news is that American’s drink more bottled water (46.8) liters per capita than they consume of alcohol. Currently Americans are consuming approximately (8.3) liters of alcohol per capita according to, Alcohol Consumption Statistics. Alcohol is a deadly addiction that causes health problems, social problems, and physical problems. It is a fact that “Alcohol abuse kills some 75,000 Americans each year and shortens the lives of these people by an average of 30 years, a U.S. government study suggested Thursday” MSNBC.
Alcohol consumption will lead to other chronic health conditions. These conditions deteriorate your health at the core. Despite the knowledge that we have about the damage that alcohol can create in a body still does not prevent people from using this harmful toxin. Despite warnings people still consume, and the government continues to allow. We all pay higher prices in the long run because of these harmful substances.
