Hypertension, High Blood Pressure, and You

Most people who have this condition have no idea that they are plagued with it.  It starts out with dull headaches, or the feeling of fatigue and dizziness.  High Blood pressure can cause nosebleeds, and before you know it a heart attack or stroke can be spawned from this chronic disease.  Following suggested guideline for making wiser and healthier care choices with regards to the treatment and prevention of Hypertension.  According to the World Health Organization it is advisable for people with high blood pressure to do the following actions: WHO

  1. Stop Smoking
  2. Change Diet
  3. Increase physical activity
  4. Lose weight
  5. Eliminate alcohol consumption

If you cannot control your hypertension your physician may do one of the following procedures:

1.            Prescription of Antihypertensive drugs

2.            Prescription of Lipid lowering drugs

3.            Prescription of Antiplatelet drugs

4.            Follow Myocardial infarction an “ACE inhibitors are recommended in all patients following myocardial infarction, which should be initiated as early as possible and continued long-term, probably lifelong” (WHO, 2012)

5.            Follow Myocardial infarction A Beta Blocker

6.            Anticoagulant treatments

7.            Coronary revascularization

8.            Carotid endarterectomy
